Sea Moss Smoothies for Busy Mornings: 4 Easy Recipes
Mornings move fast. Between getting everyone out the door and getting yourself to work, breakfast is usually the first thing to go. A smoothie fixes that. It takes about five minutes, you can drink it on the way, and it's an easy place to add a spoonful of sea moss gel.
Here are four easy smoothies to try. Each one makes 1 large or 2 small servings.
How much sea moss gel to use
Most people enjoy 2–3 teaspoons of sea moss gel a day. That's all you need in a smoothie. Our Original gel has a mild, neutral taste, so it disappears into any recipe. Our fruit gels (Mango, Strawberry, Pineapple and Moss Berry) add flavor and a little sweetness, so you can skip the honey.
1. Mango Sunrise
- 1 cup frozen mango chunks
- 1/2 banana
- 1 cup orange juice or coconut water
- 2–3 teaspoons Mango Sea Moss Gel
- A handful of ice
Blend until smooth. If it's too thick, add a splash more juice.
2. Strawberry Banana Classic
- 1 cup fresh or frozen strawberries
- 1 ripe banana
- 1 cup milk or oat milk
- 2–3 teaspoons Strawberry Sea Moss Gel
Kids usually love this one. It tastes like a milkshake.
3. Pineapple Green Smoothie
- 1 cup frozen pineapple
- 1 big handful of spinach
- 1/2 cucumber, chopped
- 1 cup coconut water
- Juice of 1/2 lime
- 2–3 teaspoons Pineapple Sea Moss Gel
The pineapple covers the taste of the greens, so even picky eaters will drink it.
4. Moss Berry Blast
- 1 cup frozen mixed berries
- 1/2 banana
- 1/2 cup plain or vanilla yogurt
- 1/2 cup milk of your choice
- 2–3 teaspoons Moss Berry Sea Moss Gel
Moss Berry is sea moss blended with our house-made elderberry syrup, so this one has a deep berry flavor with a little warm spice. Moss Berry contains honey, so don't give it to babies under 12 months.
Make-ahead tip for busy weeks
On Sunday night, put the fruit and greens for each smoothie into freezer bags. Freeze a few spoonfuls of sea moss gel in an ice cube tray, then pop one cube into each bag. In the morning, dump a bag into the blender, add your liquid and blend. Breakfast is done in two minutes.
Keep your gel fresh
Our gels ship frozen with ice packs. Keep the pouch you're using in the fridge for up to 30 days, and keep extra pouches in the freezer for 6–8 months. That's why a lot of families buy several at once. Our 4-Pouch Stock-Up Box gives you four gels with free shipping.
A quick note
Sea moss naturally contains iodine. If you're pregnant, nursing, have a thyroid condition or take medication, check with your healthcare provider before adding it to your routine.
